Goodbye NBA Elite, Welcome Back NBA Live
EA Sports is ditching the NBA Elite title and going back to its roots by naming its next NBA basketball sim NBA Live 13.
The news was revealed on Twitter by Kyrie Irving, last year’s #1 overall pick, and his tweet was later retweeted by EA Sports.
It’s an obvious move by EA Sports to go back to the Live name, as the Elite moniker serves as a reminder of the NBA Elite 11 demo that was broken on several fronts.
According to Irving, more news on NBA Live 13 is expected to be revealed on the EA Sports NBA page on Monday.

NBA Extends Licensing Deals with EA and 2K Sports
The NBA announced new multiyear agreements with EA Sports and 2K Sports, covering simulation and arcade games on consoles, online, and mobile devices.  The deal will allow both EA and 2K Sports to continue to use NBA teams and players in their games.

“We have had successful and longstanding relationships with both 2K Sports and EA SPORTS,” said Sal LaRocca, Executive Vice President of NBA Global Merchandising. “Extending our agreements with the top sports video game developers continues to maximize our presence in this category, while ensuring our fans the best selection of NBA video games.”

As a result, 2K Sports will continue to produce its NBA 2K series.  Their latest game, NBA 2K11, has received nearly universal critical acclaim.
EA Sports is currently working on their next NBA simulation game, which is expected to be released in 2012. They also plan on releasing NBA Jam: On-Fire Edition later this year.

SportsGamerShow - Five Ways to Fix NBA Elite

EA Sports recently announced the delay of their next NBA simulation game to 2012.  The news was not a shock to anyone, as the company is still recovering from the huge backlash EA Canada received over the NBA Elite 11 demo released last year.

With recent shakeups within EA Tiburon (who has taken over the new NBA sim series) along with the high probability that they will be recreating the game from scratch, delaying the release of the game to next year is the proper route to take.

There’s no question that rival 2K Sports is on top when it comes to NBA Sim basketball.  EA Sports needs to step its game up if it expects to compete with the NBA 2K series.  Here are five ways they can do it.
