MLB 2K12 Patch Coming to Xbox 360 and PS3

2K Sports is expected to release a patch for MLB 2K12 in the next 24 hours for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 users.

The patch addresses several gameplay and online issues that have plagued the game, including crashes in MLB Today mode and base runner/outfielder bugs.

The entire list of patch notes can be viewed here. PC users will not be receiving the patch.

NCAA Football 13 Dynasty Video Offers Sneak Peek Into Scouting

The latest clip in a series of NCAA Football 13 videos has hit the web, providing gamers a glimpse into scouting in the game’s Dynasty mode.

Users can now scout players to reveal various ratings, such as blocking, strength and acceleration. The longer you scout, the more information you’ll get on a recruit.

NCAA Football 13 Heisman Challenge Details Emerge

EA Sports is adding several former Heisman Trophy winners to a new mode in NCAA Football 13.

“Heisman Challenge” enables pigskin gamers to place one of 16 Heisman legends (10 players included, three available via pre-order, three via demo download) on the team of their choice in season mode.

Playing through the mode will unlock video interviews with each of the winners. Meeting each player’s actual Heisman performance in one season will also unlock them for use in Road to Glory mode.

The mode also includes a “Reaction Time” feature, which slows down the action “Max Payne” style to simulate what it’s like to see the field like a Heisman athlete.

NBA 2K13 to Include All Star Weekend as a Pre-Order Bonus

2K Sports is adding the All Star Weekend festivities to NBA 2K13 as a pre-order bonus.

The NBA All Star Game, Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, Three Point Shootout and Rising Stars Challenge will be made available for those who pre-order the game. Those who don’t pre-order the game may have to purchase the ASW add-on as DLC, which may upset some gamers.

Both the three point contest and slam dunk contest have been included in previous versions of NBA 2K, just not in “NBA All Star” form.

NBA 2K13 is expected to be released on October 2 for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation Portable. A Wii U version is slated for release at a later date. No word on whether a PS Vita version will be made available.

New WWE ‘13 Details Revealed

New details on WWE ‘13 are out, courtesy of THQ and IGN.

Some of the notable features include new over-the-top moves, such as tackling an opponent through a ring barrier, performing a finisher in mid-air and even destroying the entire ring like Lesnar and Big Show did back in 2003.

THQ is also bringing the beloved Attitude Era to WWE ‘13, giving gamers the ability to play through a brand-new single player campaign focused on the infamous “Monday Night Wars” between WWE (WWF at the time) and WCW.

The news comes one day after CM Punk revealed himself as the cover athlete for the game and days after the first trailer leaked on the Internet.

Giroux, Rinne Go Head-to-Head in NHL 13 Cover Vote Finals

The NHL 13 cover vote is down to Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux and Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.

Giroux and Rinne beat out Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin and New York Islanders forward John Tavares to advance to the final round.

Votes can be placed here until June 4 to decide who will grace the cover of NHL 13. The winner is slated to be revealed during the NHL Awards on June 20.

The cover athlete and release date of WWE ‘13 have been announced.

CM Punk will grace the cover of the game, as the WWE champion made the announcement on Raw tonight.

The official WWE ‘13 release date of October 30 was announced as well.

The news comes just a few days after the first WWE ‘13 trailer leaked onto the web.

True Performance Skating Featured in New NHL 13 Trailer

As a follow up to the NHL 13 gameplay reveal, EA Sports has released a new trailer highlighting the game’s new physics engine.

The video features gameplay footage of NHL 13’s new True Performance Skating, which is designed to bring more realistic movement on the ice.

NHL 13 Cover Vote Down to Four Players

Four players remain in the NHL 13 cover vote.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, New York Islanders forward John Tavares and Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne remain in the head-to-head tournament.

Fans will get to choose between Giroux and Malkin/Tavares and Rinne until May 28 to determine the final matchup.

The winner is expected to be unveiled on June 20 during the 2012 NHL Awards.

NBA Baller Beats to Include Spalding Basketball

The first Kinect title to require an actual basketball to play the game will come packaged with a game ball replica from Spalding.

NBA Baller Beats requires gamers to dribble a ball and perform various crossovers, pump fakes and behind the back moves to the beat of the music in the game.

It’s an interesting concept, but there could be a number of issues (mentioned in a previous post) that could arise when the game is released this fall.

Pricing for the game has yet to be revealed.

Take-Two Cancels MLB 2K Franchise

MLB 2K12 will likely be the last Major League Baseball game produced by 2K Sports.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of 2K Sports, told Kotaku that “MLB 2K12 is our last offering under that agreement. At this time, we have no further comment.”

The news comes as no surprise, with Take-Two’s exclusive contract with MLB set to expire in the next 12 months. 2K Sports has also struggled with the MLB 2K series, which has received negative reviews in recent years.

The cancellation of MLB 2K leaves NBA 2K as the only annual sports franchise for the company. The news also opens the door for other publishers to produce an MLB title, something I suggested in the latest episode of SGS.

NHL 13 to Include New Physics and A.I. System

After teasing gamers with a pair of short trailers, EA Sports has finally revealed what the new gameplay changes are in NHL 13.

A new physics system dubbed True Performance Skating has been added and brings physics-driven skating along with over 1000 new animations to the ice. The other gameplay addition is EA Sports Hockey I.Q., designed to improve the awareness of the A.I.

NHL 13 will also include GM Connected, which is essentially an online version of Be A GM mode. Users will also be able to relive the biggest games of last year’s and the upcoming season with NHL Moments Live.

A Stanley Cup Collector’s Edition of NHL 13 will also be available when the game launches in September for $79.99. Details on the Collector’s Edition and the new gameplay features can be found here.

New NCAA Football 13 Gameplay Video

The second NCAA Football 13 gameplay video is out, featuring the second part of the USC/Oregon matchup shown in the first clip released last week.

Studio Updates, ESPN ticker updates and subtle gameplay tweaks including QB dropbacks, receiver route awareness and pass trajectories are all shown in the video.

NCAA Football 13 is expected to hit stores in July.

EA Sports has unveiled another short teaser video for NHL 13, hinting at a potential update to the game’s physics engine.

The 30 second clip revisits NHL 11, which was the year EA replaced the game’s old animations with a new physics-based system.

FIFA 13 Details, Screenshots Revealed

EA Sports officially unveiled details on some of the new features in FIFA 13.

Improvements announced include “Attacking Intelligence” designed to improve the way players analyze space and create runs, more precise dribbling controls and an enhanced “Player Impact Engine” that expands physical interaction to off-the-ball players.

In addition, FIFA 13 will include changes to Career Mode, online play and EA Sports Football Club.

New Madden NFL 13 Audio Details Emerge

EA Sports has released new details on the new audio features in Madden NFL 13, including a video highlighting in-game commentary and gameplay.

The clip features Jim Nantz and Phil Simms breaking down different parts of a game, from pregame introductions to big plays. Although the commentary in the video is all new, player-specific commentary is lacking.

Authentic QB cadences are also shown in the video, but it should be noted that EA Sports added the QB cadences of only the top ten signal callers in the league.

In addition, EA Sports unveiled the new audio additions in a live webcast, playbook video and audio trailer earlier today.

Eight Players Remain in NHL 13 Cover Vote

The NHL 13 cover vote is down to eight players.

Four matchups remain in the tournament: Claude Giroux vs. Anze Kopitar, Pavel Datsyuk vs. John Tavares, Scott Hartnell vs. Evgeni Malkin and Henrik Lundqvist vs. Pekka Rinne.

Users can cast their votes here. The winner is expected to be announced at the 2012 NHL Awards on June 20.
